What we are building together
Hiccup and Toothless change Berk by trusting each other. Every Viking and every Dragon helps tell that story, whether the part has one line or many.
This show moves. We will build battles, Dragon training and flight with choreography, levels and teamwork. Nobody needs to fly on a wire or carry another actor.
What the cast will work on
- Music: learn with the guide vocals, then switch to Music only. That is what the cast hears in performance.
- Story: know what your character wants and keep reacting, even when someone else has the line.
- Movement: Vikings and each Dragon group will have their own way of moving. Practice it the same way every time.
- Words: several songs and scenes move quickly. Clear words and listening help the audience follow the story.
- Teamwork: entrances, formations, props and scene changes depend on everyone being ready.
How we keep rehearsal safe
- All weapons are props. Only touch the prop assigned to you.
- Stage fights use distance, timing and reactions. There is no contact and no surprise move.
- Dragon fire is acting, movement, light and sound. There are no real flames.
- Flight is a stage picture. You do not have to lift or carry another cast member.
- Tell the Director right away if a move, costume, mask, prop or sound feels unsafe or keeps you from seeing, hearing or breathing comfortably.
How families can help
- Check the rehearsal calendar before making plans.
- Bring water, a pencil, closed-toe shoes and anything the Director assigned.
- Practice the assigned section, including the movement, instead of running the whole album.
- Tell the production team early about an absence, access need or costume concern. Early is when we can fix it.
